website graphics; the music is what it's all about!
News and Announcements
[top]
30 September: I have been hesitant to mention this, because I
have my beliefs and ethics. However, this must be mentioned now.
Because of personal finances and the dim prospects on the job front,
I am considering closing Wind Band FM at the end of October.
Although interest in the station grew immensely over the summer,
that interest and the donations that it brought about have now waned
considerably. Thank you for listening to Wind Band FM.
Tips for Listening
[top]
You can listen to Wind Band FM by clicking on the "Listen Now!" link
here,
at the top of the page, or any of the play buttons on this page. If you are a new Live365 listener, you will
be able to listen for a limited amount of time before you must
register an account. There are two types of accounts: Standard and
Preferred (VIP).
The Standard account is free. Live365 will not spam your e-mail
address. I have had a Standard account active for over a year (for
stream testing purposes) and have yet to receive a single spam
e-mail. The
Preferred (VIP) membership is very affordable and
allows unlimited listening (even when stations are full).

Once you have one of the two accounts, there are several ways in
which you can listen to Wind Band FM and other Live365 stations. You
can change your listening preferences in your account information.
Player365: A web-based player that is easily installed.
Preferred (VIP) members can install Player365-VIP and take advantage of
the station's mp3PRO encoded stream.
Windows Media Player: WMP can be employed as a web-based
player with Live365's skin (similar to Player365) or in WMP versions
10+ as a stand-alone. To listen in WMP stand-alone, open the
application, go to View -> Online Stores -> Browse all Online
Stores, then choose Live365 from those available. You can login
to Live365 direct from WMP and listen to Wind Band FM and all your
favorite Live365 stations. Windows Media Player does not support
mp3PRO, so the quality of sound will not be as good as it is in
players that do (it does sound good, though - we've tested it!).
Other third-party players: You can also listen to Wind Band
FM though JetAudio, and other third-party players that
support streaming. The advantage of listening with JetAudio is that you can listen to Wind Band FM in 64K mp3PRO, which
is near CD quality, with the free version of this player. WinAmp
offers an mp3PRO add-on for their player; you can find it in their
add-on directory. However, when you update to version 5.34, the
installer deletes the mp3PRO add-on; you may want to keep a copy of
the add-on installation file so you can reinstall it. Because WinAmp
chooses to delete the add-on with version 5.34, WinAmp is no
longer recommended by Wind Band FM. Please
note that if your are using third-party software, you are required
to keep the Live365 player window open in order to listen.
Radio365: This software is
free for
Preferred (VIP) members. Live365's stand-alone radio
player, Radio365 features several skins and listeners can tune in to
Wind Band FM in 64K mp3PRO without opening their browsers.
If you have any questions regarding
listening to Wind Band FM, please feel free to contact

Support
Wind Band FM
[top]
Obviously, it takes money to keep a radio station on the air. Costs include the broadcasting package at Live365, website hosting, and local ISP service, studio upkeep, upgrades, etc.
Although Wind Band FM is not a non-profit organization (it is what some would
call a "hobbyist" station), I cannot sell airtime for advertising revenue;
my broadcasting contract with Live365 prohibits it.
And why would I want to broadcast
advertisements anyway? My goal is to provide listeners with the best listening experience. It's bad enough
that sometimes you may have to listen to ads from Live365. I don't want to make things worse. Consequently,
I anticipate
losing
money every month, but I'm okay with that.
There are three ways that you can help keep
Wind Band FM on the air. The first is to become a
VIP member of Live365 (which also removes Live365's ads
and allows unlimited listening even when stations are full).
Wind Band FM receives a bonus for every new VIP member that it recruits, as well as rewards for VIP listening time. This
literally only amounts to pennies, however.

The second way to help Wind Band FM is through purchasing a Live365
Gift Certificate for the station. When you buy us a Live365 Gift
Certificate, 100% of your purchase will be used to pay broadcasting
costs. Click on the button below to give Wind Band FM a Live365 Gift
Certificate (use the fourth option on the new page and choose the
dollar amount that you wish to donate).

The
third and far better way to support
Wind Band FM is through a direct donation. With a direct donation, you can ensure that 100% of your money goes toward station costs.
You may also designate your donation to go toward the purchase of
CDs or digital downloads, which will help increase our library
holdings and help provide a more diverse listening experience for
all. To donate via PayPal, please use the button below.
